Founded by Jorge Martínez Wilder in 1965, RODEX suffered from a serious strike in 1983 that severely weakened the company.

Due to an absence of heirs, in 2002, the sole owner and founder decided to sell the company through ZIMMA. An extensive study of prospects led to Grupo QUAN S.A. de C.V., which carried out an exhaustive audit of the company prior to acquiring all of its assets and brands.
